Nixon optimistic on Vietnam pullout timetable and inflation control

ISU Student Plays Key Role in State University Policy

Colin West an Indiana State University student from Terre Haute helped launch a seven point plan to boost student involvement in university administration and financing at the four state supported universities. He sat on a four member subcommittee with Randall Eckley W Paul Helmke Jr and Alan L Deerwester and will report to Secretary of State Salin at the July 10 meeting. The plan calls for student budgets boards of trustees student representatives on boards and broader student input on higher education policy and funding. Salin linked the effort to spring tuition protests and proposed a statewide Student association to lobby on education cost issues and policy.

Allied Forces Blunt Fierce Enemy Drive

More than 500 North Vietnamese troops attacked a U S artillery base 15 miles north of Tay Ninh City but were repulsed. U S casualties totaled seven dead and 18 wounded, with higher Viet Cong losses. Colombian C47 Hijacked to Cuba From Villavicencio Route

A Colombian twin engine propeller airliner with 30 aboard was seized by four gunmen after takeoff from Villavicencio and diverted toward Cuba. The Urraca Air C47 stopped at Barrancabermeja before heading to Barranquilla for fuel en route to the Caribbean.
