Quartet Must Pay Damages For Cannon Destruction
Four Indiana State University students charged with malicious trespass for destroying a Civil War cannon at Highland Lawn Cemetery appeared before Judge Paul M Messick in City Court. They were ordered to pay 3637.82 in damages to the cemetery regents, earned entirely by the four and paid to Rev. James McBaron. A 90 day jail sentence was deferred until Sept 15 with conditions to show proof of earned funds and meet with McBaron at the cemetery, plus a public apology to citizens and patriotic groups.
