Corky Kelly Earns Eagle Scout Honor In Concordville

Colin P. Kelly III son of World War II hero Colin P. Kelly received his Eagle Scout award in a solemn Concordville church hall ceremony. The 15 year old tall red haired scout earned 21 merit badges over nearly four years and was presented the Medal by Judge William R. Toal, who praised him for bearing his father’s mantle.

Recorder Confession Placed Before Jury in Irvin Slayings

Judge Eby ruled Leslie Irvin was not mistreated and the tape confession may be played to the jury. Dan Hudson testified Irvin denied then confessed to the Kerr killing and five other slayings, tying the taped confession to the trial. The decision ends three days of arguments with an empty jury box.

French Round Up Algerian Terrorists

French security forces rounded up 52 suspected terrorists in 24 hours and killed two in a widespread operation across villages in the Constantine Department. French troops and police seized arms and ammunition as rebels attacked two farms, torching them and killing two Algerian workers.

Stalemate Endures in Brewery Talks

Love-crazed youth dies after gun battle in Vandergrift

In Vandergrift Pennsylvania a 17 year old killed three people and wounded two others before a 16 hour manhunt ended when a state police sharpshooter shot him. John Fallone died six hours after being wounded while the girl Gladys Smail 15 remained in critical condition. Police officer Gus Zanos hurt as the posse closed in.

Manslaughter Verdict Against Evelyn Fuller

Evelyn Mae Fuller, widow of attorney Wallace Fuller, was found guilty of manslaughter by a Vigo Circuit Court jury after a brief deliberation. Judge Criss postponed sentencing to January 4. The charge carries 2 to 21 years in prison.

Chapman S. Root of Terre Haute announces acquisition of two Coca-Cola Bottling plants in Philadelphia with a distribution area of 3 million people. Arthur C.
