Coroner Rules 3-Year-Old Ronnie Died From Exposure

Coroner Delmar Hasler announced autopsy results showing Ronnie Wietkamp died of exposure about October 12 after vanishing Oct 11 near Crane Village. No foul play suspected, weather described as rainy and cold. only briar scratches on his legs. The body was found in a gully about a mile from his home, and overalls were found six feet away.

City Health Office Clerk Dies Sudden

Mrs Lucile W Boardman 48 chief clerk in Terre Haute Board of Health died after a heart attack entering city hall Monday morning. Resuscitation and ambulance transport failed to save her. Survived by husband Joseph H son Jack Boardman daughter Betty Burrow Boardman father John Whalen and two brothers. Active in Democratic circles and VFW Moose Lodge Vigo County Young Democrats Club. Infant Death Probed by Grand Jury in Moore Case

Chief of Detectives Willard Gantz said detectives will present the second degree murder case of Edward Leon Moore, 22, to Vigo County's grand jury soon. Moore is jailed on $20,000 bond after claiming he tossed his eight month old son Edward Jr into a dark room following repeated spankings. Prosecutor John R. Jett will act after the Fuller murder trial ends.

Loot at Garfield High School Safe of $400

Police report that thieves gained entry to a walk in safe at Garfield High School and escaped with nearly 400 dollars. Investigators noted no pry marks on the safe and ransacking of cash boxes and office equipment. Principal James Conover said the safe was locked Friday and the break in occurred over the weekend.

Six Die As Train Hits Car At Crossing In Greenville

A Crescent train at 75 mph struck a car at a grade crossing in Greenville. Six people were killed: James F. Brooks 37 and Louise Brooks 26, Louise Bagwell 25, Holland Benny Sutton 29 and Rosa Lee Sutton 23, plus their daughter Wanda 3. The car’s 10 month old baby survived with minor injuries. The train carried passengers to New York with no injuries aboard.

Five Teenagers Die in Shafter Collision

Five teens from Shafter die when a car traveling at about 90 to 95 mph crashes into a heavy cotton trailer. The victims include Finis Ashmore 19 driver Ronnie Colvard 18 Freda Brown 17 Marvin Taber 18 and Viola Taber 15. Truck driver Ernest Pace 26 from Wasco is unharmed.

Six Gary Residents Die in Crashes

The Associated Press reports six Gary residents died in five separate accidents, raising Indiana’s weekend traffic death toll to 12. Wendy Marshall, 5, daughter of Benjamin Marshall, died Sunday from injuries suffered Saturday. Continued on Page 8 Column 7.

Election Test V Terre Haute Dismissed In Settlement

The election contest filed by defeated Republican candidates in West Terre Haute for town offices was withdrawn before Judge Thomas J. Gallagher in Superior Court after a demurrer and withdrawal motion by plaintiffs attorneys. Parties included Lester R. Pruiett and James G. Fuller murder trial opens for Evelyn Fuller in Vigo Circuit Court

A parolee, Ruth Marie Hillin, 22, disappeared with 13 month old Georgia Carol Waltz in Indianapolis last Thursday. Hillin, now missing, had come to stay with Mrs. Evelyn McLaughlin and Mary Adair, and had shown immediate attachment to the child before vanishing with no trace.
