Taos sets new bypass study plan with broad public input
Taos town manager Gus Cordova told Taos County Chamber of Commerce members that the town will lead a new bypass study using a blank sheet approach to maximize public participation. past commissions studied the issue in four decades, with proposals halted. current work targets Paseo de Pueblo Norte and Sur four-lane expansions in 2002 2003 and potential one way conversions, but traffic bottlenecks around Kit Carson Road persist. The county grant of 1 million dollars funds the study, to be used by June 30 2002, with 12 to 15 months for design engineering and public hearings planned for mid next year.
