Lou Pond 88 died October 17 at her Valverde Street home. Known as Nirg GOP she shaped Taos politics, convinced husband Ashley Pond III to join Republicans, and served as party treasurer for years. A tribute with officials including Pete Domenici and Tony Garza highlighted her dedication to Republican values and local service.
