Fred's Place to Close Next Month in Taos

Fred's Place in Taos will close on November 4 due to the landlord's lease non renewal. Owner Muller, a German Swiss trained chef who moved from North Carolina to Boulder and authored La Comida, plans retirement after 20 years in the restaurant business. Civic leader dies at 96 in Taos ownership legacy

John Peter Brandenburg, a civic leader and businessman born August 5, 1904 in Ashland Oklahoma, died at 96 at his family home. He studied petroleum geology, first visited Taos in 1923, wed Dorothy Berninghaus in 1927, and moved permanently to Taos after summers in Taos and winters in Oklahoma. He and his wife helped shape the Taos community.
