Taos school board rift over superintendent search panel

Taos orders illegal inn to close over zoning breach
The Town of Taos has ordered Rancho Rio Pueblo bed and breakfast to close today or face legal action. The inn, in the Upper Ranchitos rural zone, is prohibited unless a variance is granted. The Extra-territorial Zoning Commission grilled staff on the permit origin and opening in December. Co owners Judd Platt and Yolanda Blake withdrew a prior variance request in July to build a dude ranch after neighbor objections. The lodge has 11 rooms and was inspected only once, with no extra bathrooms found. Officials promise enforcement and court action if needed, as the case proceeds in magistrate court.
