Taos county streets take new names as residents vote

Taos county begins naming streets in town and rural areas. Residents on unnamed roads will name their own road and buy signs with council approval. Local residents such as Carmel Montoya and Matthew Valerio lead door to door efforts to collect names, with ballots for neighborhood disagreements. Names honor local figures like Anita Archuleta and Tito Anglada, while duplications prompt changes like Archuleta Road becoming Dofia Ana Drive and Vargas Road becoming Linda Vista Lane.
