Road project allowed to continue in disputed Taos tract

Judge Joe Caldwell ruled the Cristobal de la Serna Land Grant Association and Kristin Selph may proceed with the road on Cristobal de la Serna tract south of Ranchos de Taos but must pause construction until the title dispute is resolved. The case, filed in 1979, pits a Spanish land grant claim against Selph, with both sides gaining partial victory and concerns about selling jets in the area.

Jack House 78 dies after long illness at Holy Cross

Jack House 78 died in March at Holy Cross Hospital after four long illnesses. Born in Covington Kentucky he lived much of his life in the West. A Colorado University alumnus and Sigma Chi member he moved with his wife Dorothy to Taos in 1968 from the Jemez area where they ranched. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church of Taos. Survived by his widow a daughter Susan House Carland of Mesa Arizona a son Jack W House of Los Alamos and four grandchildren. A private service was held at the family home officiated by Rev Wayne Herstad.
