Moly zinc measured in river near Questa milder than above

The Bureau of Land Management study finds higher molybdenum and zinc downstream from Molycorp's mine at Questa than upstream. Preliminary water samples since 1978 show increased contaminants after the mine, though officials caution the study does not yet identify the source.

Taos approves zoning for newly annexed Taos area

Town Council approves initial zoning for the December annexed land along State Road 68 and Eaton Bypass. Areas near highways favor general and neighborhood commercial zones with RA and C1 setbacks. some RA single family zones north of the bypass. Industrial park may be planned near the Taos County Sheriff Posse Arena. Drainage rules require about 100 feet of arroyo setback. Weimer and Peralta note zoning eases future adjustments and emphasizes handling each arroyo separately.

Tougher Children’s Code Signed by Governor March 20
