Two Plead Guilty in Hash Haul Drug Raid Case

David Yates, 24, and Jeffrey Hay, 24, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute hashish and marijuana respectively after police found 44 pounds of hashish at a Taos area rental. Yates faces up to three years and $5,000 fine. Hay up to two years and $5,000 fine. Separate hearings indicated no sentencing agreement. detainer from Kentucky may transfer Yates to the State Penitentiary for pre sentencing studies or confinement.

Taos Pueblo’s longtime cacique Juan Domingo Concha died Monday, age 0 in Taos. He served as spiritual leader since 1978, born November 15, 1905, never married, with no immediate family. A permanent successor has not been named by the Tribal Governor’s Office.

Las Vegas man Elvires Martinez, 42, received 18 months in the state penitentiary for drunk driving that killed 28 year old Joe Sanchez in a Sauros area crash on SR 3 between Tres Ritos and Sipapu. Judge Caldwell denied a deferred sentence request after the defense's argument was rejected.
