Mediation sought to avert Kit Carson linemen walkout today

Federal mediators are arriving in Tapa on March 24 to avert a strike by 29 Kit Carson Electric Cooperative linemen represented by Local 611 IBEW. The union seeks an 8 percent raise first year and 9 percent second year in a two year contract before the March 31 deadline. Current pay is 9.76 per hour with a company offer of 5 percent each year plus $3.59 an hour in benefits.
