Patricia Chambers died Tuesday at 61 after a brief illness. Former Taos News reporter and later news director for DMC Broadcasting, she loved politics and wrote about it. Town officials held a moment of silence at the council meeting. she is survived by husband Jack Chambers, married 24 years, after moving to Taos in 1999.

Taos Historic Museums to honor priest and artist with annual awards
Taos Historic Museums will award the Martinez Hacienda Award to Father Larry Brito and the Blumenschein Museum Award to artist Ouray Meyers at a Saturday luncheon on June 12. Brito, longtime Our Lady of Guadalupe pastor, led restoration work on Taos sites and built community ties while Meyers, son of Taos pioneer Ralph Meyers, has a 40 year art career with oil, serigraph, and acrylic work and ongoing donations to Taos Historic Museums.

Lions golf tourney to aid Taos kids
The Taos Lions Club sponsors the KidSight Kids in Need Golf Tournament at Taos Country Club on Saturday June 19 with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Entry is 130 dollars and covers greens fee a golf cart breakfast snacks and a buffet prizes for hole in one longest drive and closest to pin. Lions Club runs free screenings using iScreen equipment year round for Northern New Mexico children and partners with Taos Head Start elementary principals and nurses since 2007. The Taos Fiesta Council reveals five contestants for La Reina de Las Fiestas de Taos 2010.
