EPA renews Molycorp permit with groundwater protections
The EPA renewed Molycorp's NPDES permit near Questa adding a rider to build two trenches and a groundwater capture well to catch mine seepage from 380 million tons of waste rock. The measure, supported by Molycorp, requires 23 million dollars in environmental safeguards and aims to prevent sulfides and metals from reaching the Red River.
