Sixty five Taps Junior High on Academic Honor Roll

Sixty five Taps Junior High School students made the Academic Honor Roll for the second six weeks. The ninth grade led with 26 honorees, followed by seventh grade with 24 and eighth grade with 15. The published list names 68 students across all grades, including Jennifer Abbott and Cecilia Archuleta in ninth grade and Loyola Archuleta in eighth grade.

Funeral services for Miss Crusllta Martinez, 73, of San Cristobal, who died December 6, were held Saturday from San Cristobal Parish with Father Lilien officiating. Mining Could Ruin Rio Grande 14 Mile Fishing Reach

Taos hearings on placer mining claims along a 14 mile Rio Grande stretch raised fears it could damage the park and fishing. New Mexico infant death rate declines in 1961

The infant death rate in New Mexico for the first 70 months of 1961 dropped from 933.3 per 10000 live births in 1960 to 294.8 in 1961. Total births through October reached 25,577, up from 24,749 in the same period last year. Counties with the largest birth increases were Valencia Bernalillo McKinley Dona Ana and San Miguel.
