Forty eight prize winning photographs from the 14th annual Kodak High School Photo Awards will be shown in the Taos High School auditorium from December to December 13. Sponsored by Eastman Kodak Company, the contest recognizes teen achievement with 928 cash prizes totaling 10400 dollars. Top prizes go to four picture classifications in senior and junior divisions.

Cater Re-Elected As NM Soil and Water Group Leaders
W P Cater of Cerro was re elected first vice president of the New Mexico Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts at the Santa Fe annual meeting. J J Merritt of Yeso was re elected president. Bruce King of Stesley became second vice president. Joyce Laumback of Seleno was secretary treasurer. The group opposed cloud seeding for rain saying it causes electrical storms and heavy hail that damage crops and forests. Taos Municipal Board of Education hired Norman Mumphries, a UNM graduate previously at Albuquerque National Bank, to replace Gabe Anaya as Taos High School teacher. A federal auditor approved the hospital after visiting and confirming all transactions involving federal funds. Trade with Indian Health Service will treat Taos Pueblo Indians locally, avoiding Santa Fe or Albuquerque trips. State Public Health Service approved a water solarner for city water extension. A new drinking fountain and a plaque for Amy Ellis, major donor, were installed. A small Baby Jesus sits in the main office, and shelves were added in the staff library.
