Funeral services for Elsia Gonzales were conducted August 16 at Placitas Catholic Chapel with Fr. Thomas Wilkinson presiding. Burial followed at Placitas Cemetery. A rosary was held August 15 at San Martin Chapel. Survived by brother Abran Gonzales of Vadito and three sisters in Rodarte, with arrangements by Garcia Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Juan Del Carmel Medina were conducted Aug 5 at St. Francis Chapel Ranchos dela Taos, with Fr Manuel Alvarez presiding. The 79 year old WWI veteran was buried in Talpa Cemetery after rosaries Aug 3 and the eve of the service. Pallbearers included Polito Martinez Theodoro Medina Anselmo Torres Eduardo Tafoya and Eleuterio Coca. Survived by widow Manuelita four daughters a son a foster daughter 26 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral arranged by Hanlon Funeral Home.
Taos Municipal School Board approved the low bids for fleet insurance and supplies at a special Monday session. State Farm, via agent C B Trujillo, won the fleet insurance bid at 3272 for Penasco Questa Taos fleets, with Taos voting to approve a Taos bid of 1649.90. Pioneer Investment protested an absent Pancracio Romero.
Denny Moore of Taos, an adult staff member at Glorieta Baptist Assembly, faces evaluation over low bid amounts for bakery work. The Sunday School Board reviewed bids from Hale Sanitary Supply and Southwest Distributing Co, with bids listed around .16 per pound for sanitary services and per year pricing. Glorieta, 18 miles east of Santa Fe, covers a 2500 acre site.
Miss Eileen McCarthy hosts Sister Mary Sheila of St. Mary's Colorado Springs, returning from California, nephew Michael McCarthy of Omaha Nebraska, and cousin Mrs. Frank Amate and Mr Amata of Houston.

Taos soccer players won their second straight game by beating Santa Fe Preparatory School 6 to 1 in a Capitol region rematch. Goals came from George Brooks, Dadou Mayer, Jean Mayer, and Tony Bryan. Dadou Mayer praised the defense and keeper Victor Frohtich. The team, led by Mayer, trains thrice weekly at Taos Junior High School fields, with home games limited by the school district. The next match is July 18 at Johns College in Santa Fe.
Mrs Fletcher Bowles of Oklahoma City is visiting her sister Mrs Edgar Marshall. Joining them this week are Mrs Lane and Mrs Muriel Strebe from Pontiac Michigan. Mr and Mrs Bob Bowles of Taos also join. Strebe was last in Oklahoma City.
