Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. Jerry Grohowski said advisers will remain in El Salvador for the foreseeable future as the civilian military junta fights leftist guerrillas. Nineteen advisers are in El Salvador, with additional 16 in Honduras aiding flow of weapons and training. Senate actions push to halt aid unless human rights progress is certified.

She remained in stable condition at Vincent's Hospital Worcester with head and shoulder injuries.
