Jacksonville developer’s wife abducted. kidnaping charge filed
State officials filed a kidnaping count against Jack McWilliams 39, accused of abducting the wife of a Jacksonville developer and tying her to a post for four days. She was found in a wooded area a mile from her home in good condition after a lengthy ordeal. McWilliams, jailed for another sentence, was to be moved to Jacksonville. Edith Burton 22, McWilliams’ girlfriend, aided the escape and led investigators to the site.

Youth held in slaying in Hogansburg case
A Syracuse youth, Noah Lazare, 17, was charged with second degree murder first degree robbery and second degree grand larceny in the stabbing death of Anna Mae Lazare 69 of Hogansburg found slain at her home on the St. Regis Indian Reservation about noon yesterday. Another youth Rene Steven Lazare 18 faces hindering prosecution. Investigators believe the suspects are distant relatives and about $300 was taken along with a stolen car.

August trade deficit ranks third largest on record

GE to consolidate semiconductor work at Auburn plant
