The National Weather Service Hancock Airport reports a 30 percent chance of rain through tomorrow with mainly cloudy skies. Overnight temperatures should drop to 45 to 50 degrees and rise to 80 to 65 tomorrow with scattered showers possible Thursday, then fair conditions Friday and Saturday.
The fully clothed elderly man was recovered from ten feet of water off Emerson Park on Qwasco Lake. Sheriff Hubert C. Sponable said the man’s identity was being withheld until next of kin could be notified and that he did not appear to be from the Auburn area.
In Binghamton a 38 year old man Robert Brooks faces arraignment today on two counts of second degree murder after a fatal stabbing of Daniel Mandeville, 17, and John McCleary, 23, with police identifying both victims as local residents. Egyptian expulsion of Soviet diplomats follows President Sadat remarks accusing Moscow of fanning sectarian strife. Albany numbers game drew 611 as the nightly result. A bathing suit shop sign protests, offering sibel or swim.

General Frederick Kroesen and his wife were treated after Soviet made grenades struck their Mercedes near Heidelberg in West Germany. The attack, the fourth on U S personnel in two weeks, involved small arms fire and a grenade launcher found nearby. Police call the raid a new form of terrorist act by the Baader-Meinhof group. Kroesen remained in his office after hospital release.
Philippine authorities accused Soviet merchant ships of spying on American warships and possibly contacting rebel groups, then dis authorized the statement after a closed ASEAN meeting. Foreign Minister Manuel Collantes clarified the remark later, dialing back the charges.
