Forecaster at Hancock Airport says bright sunshine should dominate today with a high around 85 degrees. Tonight’s rain chance rises to about 20 percent with fair conditions in the mid sixties.
A teen or young adult man died early today in a one car crash on Route 5 east of Fayetteville near Green Lakes State Park. The car rolled over and caught fire. The driver, Frank M. Watson, 19, of Fayetteville, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. The victim's name was not released pending family notification.
Italian papers said a missile exploded about six miles from a domestic ATI DC-9 flying Palermo to Rome during a naval exercise. The postal flight carried a five-man crew and no passengers. The Aug. 8 accident was confirmed by airline investigators who supported the pilot’s account.
An Italian pilgrim was killed and 27 others wounded in a crowd in Jerusalem's Old City when a grenade was thrown. Police detained several for questioning. 24 of the injured were Italians from a tour group. The slain man was Pietro Bocemo, 70.

Syracuse school veteran Frank Fiorenza welcomed 26 new fifth grade students to Huntington Elementary on opening day. Nervous mothers and eager preteens filled the hallway as Fiorenza began his first lesson, easing tensions with humor about a plant named Igor and classroom routines.
