Meadowbrook Drive floods as basements take on water
East Side Meadowbrook Drive residents woke to six inches to a foot of basement flooding after a heavy downpour. Officials blamed plugged catch basins and backed up storm drains rather than the creek, which did not overflow. Residents recalled historic floods but stressed this was caused by drainage system issues. Water reached apartments in the 1700 block, and stories included belongings ruined and a furnace replacement looming for some homeowners. Terrifyingly, a reporter’s own apartment basement filled with water.
