Chest Drive Nears Goal As It Closes
Community Chest officials predict the final total will reach within five percent of the 1949 goal at tonight’s closing dinner. Volunteers collected pledges by phone from Hotel Syracuse and rushed signature cards to donors. General Chairman Philip R. Chase urged high participation to reach 100 percent of the goal. The drive funds the USO in Syracuse, adds about 75,000 to sustain 33 Red Feather agencies, amid higher costs and a growing population with more elderly, infant, and hospital needs.
