Steinbeck's Wife Called To Inquest
Mrs. Gwyn Con ger Steinbeck estranged wife of John Steinbeck will be summoned to an inquest in Reno Nevada into the death of Leonard H Wolff a World War II flyer and son of a Denver family. Wolff was found shot near the desert after gambling losses and had written checks to cover his debts. Coroner Layman said the death is personal safety related but the father objected to the conclusion. The dead man had been granted a divorce last week and listed assets of 347700 in securities. The inquest will also hear from Newell Ben ningfield operator of the gambling resort after irregular signatures on checks.

No Clues Found In Circus Death
A coroner inquest in Springfield Missouri failed to uncover evidence for charges in the death of 19 year old circus roustabout William Pettit of Louisville Kentucky. Pettit’s battered body was found in a circus wagon after a show from Lamar Missouri. Dr Murray C Stone said the youth was stomped to death and likely a result of a fight.
