Tens of thousands rally against NATO missiles at Bremerhaven base

About 10,000 protesters jammed a road past Carl Schurz Barracks in Bremerhaven amid a three day anti missile campaign. Police reported no violence but deployed 200 riot officers with tear gas and water cannons. Demonstrators carried banners opposing atomic weapons and NATO deployments while nearby protests and human chain plans unfolded at Frankurt and Bonn.

New DWI Law Used To Arrest Driver After Crash

In Plattsburgh area a new state law allowing oral court orders for alcohol tests was used two hours after going into effect. A Keysville man, Danny Le Hart, 33, was charged with driving while intoxicated after a one car crash on County Route 1 in Elinton County's Saranac. Debor ah Collins, 25, of Clayburgh, suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized. Le Hart, treated for minor injuries, refused a chemical test until a telephoned order was issued by Clinton County Justice Irving Goldman. The law permits oral orders to obtain blood or breath tests within hours of an accident.

Free man Melvin Reynolds after wrongful murder conviction

Melvin Reynolds, 30, returned to his Missouri hometown after four years in prison for a murder he did not commit.
