More than 2,000 fish died in Mission Creek near Fremont after malathion spraying for the Mediterranean fruit fly. Biologist Finlayson says overall aquatic impact appears minimal. Mission Creek kill involved 2,000 mosquito fish and 50 carp with one part per million in water and 10 ppm in tissue. runoff suspected. Other malathion kills totaled about 100 fish in two Santa Clara County creeks.
