Christmas sleigh model becomes stamp in Central New York
A Fayetteville woman’s antique child’s sleigh, once donated to the New York State Historical Museum, is the model for a 26 cent U S Christmas stamp depicting a black sleigh with red runners and wrapped gifts. Marjorie Plunkett owned the sleigh. Stevan Dohanos designed the stamp and viewed the sleigh in Cooperstown’s museum. The cutter sleigh is three feet four inches long with worn green upholstery now red for the season.
