President Truman’s drive to aid Europe receives a boost as brewing industry representatives vote to eliminate wheat from beer production and release 200000 bushels of wheat stocks for food. They also back dropping table grades of rice in beer.
The American Meat Institute said the government plan to feed less grain to livestock could fan price inflation. It warned that any reduction in livestock numbers could cripple the future economy.
Charles Luckman chairing the President's Citizens Food Committee welcomed the brewers' cooperation in a national grain conservation effort.
