Reagan predicts record Soviet grain sales this year

The Reagan administration offered Moscow 23 million metric tons of wheat and corn and expects Kremlin purchases to reach at least 18 million tons. At $150 to $170 per ton, values could total $2.7 to $3.06 billion in the year ending Sept. 30, 1982, though analysts doubt this boosts farm prices immediately. The embargo on grain sales, imposed by Carter, was lifted by Reagan after 16 months.
