He warned violations of the Egypt Israel peace treaty would justify retaliation and urged progress on Palestinian autonomy before 1981 ends.
King Hussein of Jordan meets President Reagan in the Oval Office as talks open amid signals Hussein may receive more U S weapons to deter Soviet arms and deter outside threats to the Middle East. The two leaders stress a long US Jordan relationship and seek to preserve stability amid regional tensions.
Prison officials described demands by hostages holdout inmates as somewhat reasonable but needed clarification on several points.
