Women in law schools rise but partners remain rare
Newhouse News Service reports 37,000 of 116,000 law students are women, up from 8,500 in 1972, while women comprise only 14 percent of lawyers at the 50 largest firms and 2 percent of partners. ABA data show small gains in tenured professors and state and federal judges, with women overrepresented in family, trusts, and tax fields but underrepresented in trial and corporate work.
