A low pressure system extends over much of the country today with potential for strong severe storms as it moves offshore. Lingering showers and thundershowers push from New England toward the coast, with stronger activity expected offshore and across coastal areas.
Forecast calls for severe thunderstorms across the southern Plains into the Mid Mississippi Valley with the Texas Panhandle and Oklahoma at highest risk. Northern Florida may see thunderstorms while the Northeast Great Lakes and Gulf Coast stay dry. Warm highs vary from 50s in high elevations to 100s in Texas and the Desert Southwest.
