Bomb kills 10 as Assam unrest widens in India

Reagan proposes interim arms cut in Europe talks

President Reagan urged the Soviet Union to join an interim agreement to reduce warheads on medium range missiles in Europe, stressing fewer warheads are preferable to none. Economic leaders flag slower February gains in broad index

Washington reports the Leading Index of Economic Indicators rose 1.4 percent in February marking the sixth monthly rise. While January’s revised 3.5 percent gain dwarfs February, economists see a continuing recovery from the 1981-82 recession though deficits and higher interest rates could temper the upturn. The index tracks 12 statistics, with February led by money supply gains and improved stock prices and building permits, while weaker readings appeared in average work week and orders for new plants and consumer goods.
