Red Sox Official Savages Burning Feud With Slugger
Winter Haven Florida AP Bill Crowley vice president and PR director for the Boston Red Sox suffered a skin tear on his hand when slugger Jim Rice grabbed him during a dispute over parking near the batting cage before an exhibition game with the Detroit Tigers. Crowley, 61, received treatment and played on with a bandaged hand. Rice dismissed the incident and said he would discuss only baseball. Crowley disclosed a three year mutual dislike over parking spots and said Rice threatened to beat him with a bat if the issue persisted. Red Sox executive Haywood Sullivan said he would meet with Rice and player representative Tom Burgmeier after the affair.
