Elements Of Danger In Booms Draw Tariff Tightening Call

He proposed raising margin requirements to 75 percent promptly and to 100 percent if stocks keep rising, noting they should never have been reduced in February 1953. McCloy of Chase National Bank supported a cautious view, saying the break in stock prices did not imply national depression, while warning of growing economic dependence on allies.
