Central New York Weather Averages Outlook This Week

The National Weather Service expects dull conditions over the next few days with clouds and light precipitation. A moist northwesterly airflow from a high over Canada and a coastal low brings mostly cloudy skies, with low 30s temperatures and highs in the 30s. tonight near 30, tomorrow mid-30s. Winds west 6 to 15 mph, with variable cloudiness and a few flurries tonight and tomorrow. Extended outlook calls for continued cloudiness and occasional showers or flurries through Friday.

Dog shoots man in Monroe after gun in dog's mouth

In Monroe Michigan a German shepherd named Jarvis bit and carried a loaded .22 pistol left on a chair by John Calbert 41 training the dog to attack intruders. The gun fired when the dog dropped it injuring Calbert in the arm. he was listed in fair condition at Mercy Hospital.

Miners Rally Nationwide Against Black Lung Cuts

About 7,000 coal miners from across the country gathered at the United Mine Workers headquarters to protest President Reagan's proposed black lung benefits cuts. Meanwhile, mines at home remained idle as the union staged a two day walkout in solidarity with the nationwide protest.

National study shows 31 percent of 12 to 17 year olds have tried marijuana, up from 1972 while 17 percent are current users.
