Haulover Beach Gets Wheelchair Ramp for Nude Beach Access
Miami Dade County spends 40000 dollars to improve access to Haulover Park Beach clothing optional stretch. An 18500 dollar wheelchair ramp replaces steps, with four agencies supervising due to dunes and plant life. Additional 20000 to 30000 planned for closer disability parking, as ADA interpretations stress access to beach remains required. Local officials frame debate over public nudity versus accessibility, noting many handicapped sunbathers seek equal access.
