West pledges aid after Milosevic handover
Western leaders pledged billions in aid to Yugoslavia after Slobodan Milosevic was transferred to the UN tribunal in The Hague. The move drew mixed reactions at home in Belgrade as EU, World Bank, and US donors lined up support while Serb officials condemned the handover as a coup. Milosevic faces crimes against humanity charges over Kosovo violence that killed about 10,000 ethnic Albanians and ended with NATO airstrikes in 1999.
