Aid cut jeopardizes Fulton school programs funding

Governor Cuomo proposed aid reductions that could cost Fulton School District about 1.2 million dollars and limit programs while not raising local taxes. District officials say they cannot raise taxes due to the 1.25 percent cap and a tentative budget awaiting anticipated revenues.

Oswego Briefs: theft, harassment, DUI and more

An Oswego resident, Robert M. Cain 22 Bellaire, faces third degree criminal possession of stolen property after police say he had a stolen telephone worth 89 dollars from Telephone Connection. Paul Doud 17 of Oswego faced harassment charges after an incident on Bridge Street. William Kelly 51 of Memphis was charged with DUI in Scriba. Steve Clay 22 of Route 49 Central Square faces disorderly conduct at the Field Days. he received an appearance ticket.

Two Oswego County men hurt in separate accidents

In Phoenix and the town of Oswego, two men were treated after separate crashes. Jay Van Tassel 36 suffered minor facial cuts when his car collided with Mark Gristwood 21 at County Route 54 and Sutton Road Phoenix Gristwood was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign. In Oswego a Fulton motorcyclist Philip LaBarge 35 swerved to miss road debris and went off County Route 7. he was treated at A L Lee Memorial Hospital in Fulton.

Nellis damages award on hold during Miller appeal

Oswego vets memorial park plan gains city support

Three Oswego aldermen backed a proposed Veterans Memorial Park to honor Korean and Vietnam veterans with a private donation funded five foot monument at West Cayuga Street. The council will vote next week after city attorney reviews park ownership questions. The same committee also endorsed borrowing 660000 to pave 93 streets this year, adding to current notes for sewer and curb projects.
