Majority of Press Critical of Veto
The Associated Press reports a broad press consensus criticizing President Truman's veto of Taft-Hartley. Editorials from New York papers urged overriding, while the Times praised Congress for overriding in spirit, calling the veto a failed effort to cooperate with lawmakers and labeling it a misjudged attempt to shield labor interests.
