Strike Updates From Allied Chemical Walkout

United Steelworkers Local 12457 plan an informational meeting at Solvay High School to discuss Allied Chemical Corp offer amid a nationwide strike. Carey fails to gain lulu for governor in pay bill

Albany AP Gov. Hugh Carey failed to insert a $15,000 pay-lulu for himself into a state workers pay raise bill. Senate leaders stripped the provision, but left open a path if Carey submits it as a separate measure. They printed a clean version of the raise bill, removing the lulu and other provisions, while signaling possible consideration of items separately.

Carter says he'll whip Kennedy for 1980 bid

President Carter reportedly told congressmen at a White House dinner that if Edward Kennedy runs for the 1980 Democratic nomination he will whip his ass. Rep.
