Burglars Take Receipts From Franklin Theater
After the final show burglars slipped into the Franklin Theater at 237 South Ave and fled with 372 dollars in receipts. Owner George Read found the north side door open near 1:15 am and alerted patrolman John McCormick. The cash, consisting of 1 and 5 and 10 dollar bills with change, was counted and left hidden in a bank bag in an office cupboard, with evidence suggesting the money was moved to a nearby bank area. The exit door was forced by pressing a steel bar inside.
