Prosperity Co. Fund OKed in Braun Case Trial Delay Sought
State Supreme Court Justice Frank Del Vecchio granted motions to allow Aquila R. Braun to withdraw 14383 for counsel fees and expenses and ordered an attorney examination. The decision comes amid four combined lawsuits alleging mismanagement of Prosperity Co. funds while Braun and family controlled the firm. Court actions halted the trial until June 25 to permit further inquiries into Braun’s finances and the involvement of former Prosperity attorney Laurence Sovik. Plaintiffs oppose delays while seeking a settlement that honors fund recovery for creditors and stockholders, with trial expected to last four to six weeks.
