Suspect seeks to tape McVeigh's execution

Lawyers for Joseph Minerd sought Supreme Court permission to videotape the Oklahoma City bomber's death to support a challenge to lethal injection as cruel and unusual punishment. McVeigh faces execution for the 1995 bombing that killed 168. The government opposes taping and it was unclear when the court would respond. Minerd was jailed for the 1999 Pittsburgh bombing that killed his pregnant former girlfriend and her daughter with federal arson and bombing charges. A tape would document whether the execution proceeds as claimed.
