Bill would limit lawyer legislators ethics bill debated in Albany
The ethics bill would bar lawyer legislators from filing condominium conversion applications with the attorney general. The law firms of leaders Warren Anderson John Dunne Manfred Ohrenstein Melvin Miller and Clarence Rappleyea represented clients before the AGs office, though a condo conversion exception remains. A separate proposal would shield lawmakers' assets while keeping public information accessible, with a review panel to handle confidential requests. Anderson voiced cautious optimism after a closed-door GOP meeting, noting remaining major questions before a final bill.
