Unhurt passengers on crippled Alaska airliner
Reeve Aleutian Airways Flight 8 with 15 aboard made a two engine landing at Anchorage International after an engine exploded tearing a fuselage gash. The right outboard engine exploded, propeller burst free, all 15 passengers and crew survived as crowds cheered the safe arrival. Authorities dispatched NTSB to inspect engines and cabin damage. Captain Jim Gibson landed the Electra on a tense second approach after circling to burn fuel.
