Seven year old charged in brother's North Bay shooting
Oneida County police say 7-year-old Christopher Otts deliberately fired a shotgun that killed 8-year-old Troy Dean Otts and wounded 2-year-old Casey Tourtellotte in their North Bay home. State police labeled the death a homicide. The juvenile delinquency petition was filed in Oneida County Family Court. the boy was taken into custody.

Gouverneur high school senior Bret J. Shatraw, 19, died yesterday morning after his 1979 Pontiac sedan struck a dump truck on Route 11 north of the village. George H. Sands, 57, and three passengers were treated for minor injuries. Services set for Thursday at Sprague Funeral Home with burial in Hailsboro Cemetery.

Missing guardsman presumed drowned near Fort Drum
Tracy B. Horne of Wareham Massachusetts a 21 year old member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard is believed drowned after disappearing Friday night near Judy's Tear Drop Inn in Watertown. A joint police and Army search on the Black River yesterday failed to locate his body. Horne had been at Fort Drum for a two week training with the 211th Field Artillery 26th Infantry Division and did not report for duty over the weekend.
