Many federal judges earn more from outside income than salaries
About half of America's federal judges earn more from investments and other outside sources than from the proposed pay raise. An Associated Press review of 935 disclosure forms finds many judges hold six figure portfolios, with salaries from 89 500 to 115 000 and a push for a 30 percent increase. The study notes 62 to 176 judges are millionaires, 93 to 258 earn more outside income, and assets range broadly from under 150 000 to more than 8 million in some cases.
