Bake deliveries cut Wednesdays by union action
Local 316 of the Dairy and Bakery Salesmen Union voted to suspend wholesale bread deliveries on Wednesdays from plants in Onondaga Cortland and Oswego counties. Drivers paid on commission say the move harms earnings though union officials call it not a strike. Affected plants include General Baking Co Kallfelz Bros National Biscuit Ward and Durkee with other firms exempt. A Watertown meeting will cover Jefferson and St Lawrence counties and curtailments affect Auburn and Central New York stores.
